Joya-e is a New Year’s Eve service observed at Buddhist temples. It is a time to reflect on the past year, to rejoice in blessings, and to express gratitude for the conditions that allowed people to live through the year. Joya-e is also a time to understand karmic connections and conditions, and to reflect on the interdependence of family and Sangha members.
