The Northern California Koyasan Temple will be observing its annual Obon Memorial and Segaki Service on Sunday, July 30, 2023, at 1:30 pm. (The service has been rescheduled.) Obon is a time when we commemorate the spirit of our ancestors and pray for the eternal peace of all those who have passed on before us.
During the service, the Hatsubon (First Service) memorial, Shotsuki and Special Anniversary Year memorials will be performed by Reverend Mimatsu. In addition, commemorations for any departed loved ones whom you may wish to remember and honor will also be included. If you would like to commemorate their memory, please complete the attached Obon Memorial Form and return by mail or email no later than Thursday, July 27, 2023.
A memorial card prepared and blessed by Reverend Mimatsu will be presented at the end of the service to place on your Obutsudan or by a picture of your departed loved one. For those unable to attend the service and reside in Sacramento County, please contact the temple to arrange a date and time to pick up your memorial card. If you reside outside the Sacramento area, the memorial card will be mailed to you.
