The Northern California Koyasan Temple will hold its annual Shichi-Go-San Special Prayer Service during November. Shichi-Go-San is a ceremony that prays for the healthy growth and longevity of boys ages three and five and girls ages three and seven.
This year’s Service will be held at Koyasan Temple on Sunday, November 27, 2022 at 1:30 pm. The Temple will also offer Shichi-Go-San services via Zoom to individual families who wish to have a personal service. Zoom services are by appointment and will be held between November 16th and December 4th. After scheduling an appointment, a confirmation email and a Zoom link will be sent. The registration fee is $35.00 per child.
Following the Temple’s Service, the Chitose Ame (thousand year candy) and an omamori (talisman) will be presented to each participating child. For families participating via Zoom in the Sacramento County area, the Chitose Ame may be picked up in the Temple’s social hall. Families living outside Sacramento County (i.e Bay Area) will receive the candy by mail and will include shipping costs. The cost of shipping will be included in the confirmation email.
