Please join us at Northern California Koyasan Temple on Sunday, September 27 at 1:30 pm for our Autumn Higan Service.
Higan is a special time for reflection, remembrance, and renewing our commitment to the Buddhist path. We honor our ancestors and loved ones who have passed away, while reflecting on the impermanence of life and the responsibilities we have to those around us. It is not simply a memorial observance. It is an opportunity to cultivate greater compassion, patience, and generosity towards those around us.
This year’s service is especially meaningful as we welcome Reverend Nathan Jishin Michon as the new head priest of Northern California Koyasan Temple. Reverend Jishin will lead his first service with our congregation, beginning a new chapter in the life of our Temple while continuing the Shingon Buddhist tradition that connects us to generations of teachers and practitioners.
Following the service, please stay and join us at 2:30 pm for cake and refreshments as we officially welcome Reverend Jishin to our Temple community.
We invite our members, families, friends, and supporters to come together, meet Reverend Jishin, share some fellowship, and help us give him a warm Koyasan Temple welcome.
