Workshop 1: The Practice of Presence (All Levels)

In this workshop, Eri Uchida invites taiko players to explore the relationship between performer, instrument, stage and audience. Drawing from her 15+ years of experience, including a decade with KODO, Eri will guide participants in cultivating awareness and intentionality in all aspects of their performance. Through exercises in posture, movement, and focus, you’ll learn how to embody the energy of taiko, create meaningful connections on stage and make each moment count.

This class will be tailored to students of all ages and backgrounds. We encourage our beginner and intermediate classes to attend!

Workshop 2: Katsugi Fundamentals

In this workshop, Eri Uchida will teach posture, drum position and striking techniques while exploring the movement that defines the katsugi style. Eri’s holistic approach emphasizes body awareness and rhythmic precision, ensuring a strong technical foundation.

Note: This class will be tailored to students learning katsugi okedo and will cover some foundational principles. We encourage our advanced (and Kongo) members to attend this class. If attending this class, you may also attend the earlier class, but priority will be given in the first class to the beginner and intermediate classes.

* If you are in the normally scheduled 5pm or 6pm Wednesday classes, we encourage you to attend the 5:30-7:00pm workshop. Sunshine had mentioned this in a class, but the monthly dues will be reduced by $10 to account for this overlap. Please discount $10 from June's monthly dues.
