A Special Blessing Service and Goma Fire Ritual will be held at the Northern California Koyasan Temple on Sunday, September 24, 2023. The service will be broadcast via Zoom at 11:30 a.m. and will be followed in the afternoon by a service at the Temple at 1:30 p.m. If you plan to attend the morning service via Zoom, please contact Reverend Mimatsu by email at: webmaster@nckoyasan.org or by phone at (916) 444-0111 and a zoom link will be emailed prior to the service.

The Goma Fire Ritual will be performed by Reverend Mimatsu at the afternoon Special Blessing Service. During the Goma Fire Ritual, the Special Blessing Ofuda, a wooden tablet inscribed with an individual’s or family’s selected blessing, will be blessed by Reverend Mimatsu. The ceremonial burning of the Soe Gomagi, a wooden prayer stick, with each person’s prayer(s) and /or wishes to the Buddha will also be performed by Reverend Mimatsu.

Here is the Special Blessing Ofuda Request Form and the Soe Gomagi Application Form. If you wish to order an Ofuda or participate in the Soe Gomagi ceremony, please complete the appropriate form. Donations may be submitted by check payable to NC Koyasan Temple or electronically through PayPal or Venmo on the temple’s website at nckoyasan.org. Mail completed form and check to the temple or send form by email no later than September 24, 2023.

For those in attendance at the Temple, the Ofuda will be presented at the end of the service. For those attending the service via Zoom and residing in the Sacramento area, please make arrangements to pick-up the Ofuda at the Temple. If you reside outside the Sacramento area, the Ofuda will be mailed to your home address. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please call or email Reverend Mimatsu.
