We warmly invite you to join us for the Northern California Koyasan Temple’s Shomieku Commemoration Service
Sunday, April 19, 2026 at 1:30 pm.
This annual service honors the life and everlasting spiritual presence of Kōbō Daishi (Kūkai), the founder of Shingon Buddhism. It is said that Kōbō Daishi remains in eternal meditation, offering compassion and guidance to all beings. Through this ceremony, we express our deep gratitude for his teachings and dedicate our hearts to walking the path of wisdom and compassion.
In addition to the Shomieku, we will also be holding a memorial service for ancestors and loved ones who passed away in the month of April. This is a time to remember and honor their lives, offering prayers for their peaceful journey and continued connection in spirit.
Please also consider bringing or donating flowers, and coming early to help decorate the Hanamido. Temple decoration and preparation will start at 9 am.
Flower donations are needed.
This observance will take place at our temple and via Zoom at ensuring that everyone in our community can participate.
