Dear Koyasan Temple Members,

This year, 2022, marks the 110th anniversary of the Koyasan Shingon Mission’s establishment in North America. An anniversary celebration had been planned for the fall of 2022, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic it was postponed until the fall of 2023.

As a prelude to the anniversary celebration, a Special 110th Anniversary Service will be held on Sunday, October 23, 2022, at 11:00 am at the Koyasan Beikoku Betsuin of Los Angeles. Bishop Shunga Kiryu, Executive Officer of Koyasan Kongobuji Headquarters in Mt. Koya, Japan will officiate the Service. Following the Service, Bishop Kiryu will perform the “Kizuna Jukai” ceremony. This ceremony, rarely performed outside Japan, will be performed for the first time in the United States at the Los Angeles Koyasan Beikoku Betsuin Temple.

Members of the Koyasan Temples of North America are invited to attend this Special Service and “Kizuna Jukai” ceremony. Linked is information regarding the Service and Jukai along with an application form for the Jukai ceremony.

If you plan to attend, please complete the attached application form and write your donation check for the Jukai ceremony to Koyasan Beikoku Betsuin of L.A. Mail both to Koyasan Beikoku Betsuin of Los Angeles, 342 E. 1st Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012. If you have a question or need further assistance, contact Reverend Mimatsu by phone at (916) 444-0111 or by email at info@nckoyasan.org.
